A Mylar reflectant is applied to the parabolic shaped ceiling around 1000 watt Metal Halide lamps. The ballasts are removed from the room.

Technician among cherry tomato plants. Notice how the lamps are separated from the grow room by a 4 mil vapor barrier. This enabled high fresh air ventilation around the lamps without affecting the carbon dioxide enriched and moist air inside the grow room.

All produce, plant biomass and root systems were weighed on completion of the experiments.

Once the plant was removed, the troughs in which the root system lived were opened to study the root development in relationship to the various trough widths being tested.
